The Department of DVL has been functioning at Govt medical college Tiruppur since March 2021. This department is a tertiary care center for all the districts surrounding Tiruppur. We are functioning with single unit composed of 5 teaching faculties and 2 non-teaching faculties. The outpatient department sees an average of 230 patients a day with average in patient’s census being 8 per day. The treatment modalities available included all topical medications, oral medications,all injectable medications(including biologicals) and day care dermato surgery procedures. We are in the process of improving the infrastructure further to improve the quality of services being rendered.

Primary Objectives of Dermatology | +
  • Diagnosis and Management: Identify and treat a broad range of skin conditions, from common issues like acne and eczema to severe diseases such as psoriasis and skin cancer.
  • Medical and Surgical Care:Provide specialized treatment, including topicals, systemic medications, and surgical interventions like skin grafting surgeries for vitiligo.
  • Emergency Care:Manage critical life-threatening dermatological conditions such as Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS).
  • Preventive Care and Education: Educate patients on skin health, proper skincare routines, sun protection, and preventive measures against skin infections,occupational dermatitis and cancers.
  • Systemic Disease Detection: Identify skin manifestations that indicate underlying internal organ diseases, such as autoimmune disorders.
  • Rehabilitation and Chronic Care:Provide long-term care, support, and rehabilitation for patients with chronic, debilitating skin conditions.

The department features a 10-bedded in-patient facility, a specialized minor operating theater, and daily outpatient services.
