Department of Dental Surgery has been serving more than 3 decades under DMS side and continued functioning from March 2021 under DME side. Department provides quality Dental healthcare and oral hygiene awareness to the regional population with both out-patient and in-patient care. Maxillofacial trauma cases are also treated effectively under General Anaesthesia and under Local Anaesthesia in Minor Operation Theatre.

Dental Department is well equipped with 2 electronic dental chairs with Motorized Suction Unit.
✔ Clinical Service Objectives - To provide comprehensive, affordable, and quality oral health care to the population of Tiruppur district and surrounding areas.
✔ Preventive care Objective - To offer preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic dental services.
✔ Oral Cancer Objective - To ensure early detection, and screen all OPD and referral cases for premalignant and potentially malignant disorders under organized cancer screening Programme. To create oral cancer awareness to patients.
✔ Age Related Oral care Objective - Oral Services provided to Adult patients in general Dental OPD and Paediatric Patients in DEIC – District early intervention centre
✔ Emergency Care Objective -To manage Patients with dental emergencies and Oral Maxillofacial trauma in coordination with casualty and other clinical departments.
✔ Teaching and training Objective -To impart basic Dental Knowledge to MBBS Students and certified clinical training to improve skill of undergraduate dental trainees under senior Internship for 6 Months Period.
✔ Research and academics Objectives -To promote clinical and community based Research relevant to oral health needs for Evidence based practices.
✔ Quality assurance Objectives -To maintain high standards for injection control, Stentization and patient safety to implement standard operating protocols for managing patients effectively.
✔ Inter disciplinary and Referral Objectives -To collaborate with other specialities such as Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Oncology, ENT, Paediatrics for treating patients with systemic medical conditions. To function as a referral center for dental and maxillofacial disorders within the districts.
✔ Public Health and Social Responsibility Objectives -To provide Equitable access to oral health services irrespective of socio economic status. To support Government Health initiative and programs. To manage needed patients under CMCHIS (Chief Ministers Comprehensive health Insurance Scheme)
In Dental Department we treat approximately1500 patients per month. DEIC – District Early Intervention Centre has specialized Dental wing which provides early and interceptive dental management for pediatric patients from new born to adolescent age group of around 250 cases per month.
Surgical management of fractured facial bones
Simple fractures are managed by Closed Reduction and Intermaxillary Fixation with arch bar and eyelet under LA in Minor OT
Major Operation theatre for Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures efficiently runs at 5th floor. Procedures like trauma management and various surgical management has been handled in collaboration with varied specialities.
Minor surgical procedures has been handled on daily basis in Minor OT room no.7 located in Dental opd.
Dental in-patients are taken care in the dental ward 301 with utmost care with well trained staffs
Government Certified clinical training is being provided for skill development for BDS and MDS completed candidates as Senior Internship programme for a duration of 6 months.
Basic clinical training is being provided to UG MBBS students during their clinical posting for a period of 2 weeks.
