Anaesthesia was essentially considered as freedom from pain. Over the years, numerous developments in this field have changed this perception and Anaesthesiologists have evolved from the four walls of the Operation Theatre to become Critical Care Physicians and Pain Medicine Consultants.
Operation Theatre
- 18 state-of-the-art modular operation theatres for elective surgeries
- 3 operation theatres for emergency surgeries
- CEmoNC operation theatre for Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Family Planning surgeries
- Ophthalmology operation theatre within the premises of ophthalmology department.
PACU (Post Anaesthesia Care Unit)
It is a state of art recovery room for patients who require post operative ventilatory support or close monitoring after surgery. It is equipped with ventilators, multipara monitors, infusion pumps and defibrillators.
The Clinic caters screening of patients planned for surgical and investigative procedures referred from various surgical departments.
Patients suffering from acute and chronic pain are referred for treatment to our clinic from various specialities. Modalities of pain management include mainly oral medications based on pain score and interventional USG guided nerve blocks for trauma patients from Accident and Emergency ward.

Department library is well collection of updated editions of all Anaesthesiology books and recent journals.
Skills Lab
We have an exclusive skills lab equipped with advanced adult and pediatric mannequins which are used for hands on training in BLS and ACLS for CRMI, undergraduates and nursing students.
CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department)
Central Sterile Supply Department is under the control of department of Anaesthesiology which is an integrated place that performs sterilization of medical instruments and equipments for use by health workers in OT and other aseptic procedures
CSSD in our hospital is equipped with
- 5 Autoclave machines
- 1 ETO sterilizer
DRP (District Residential Programme)
Post graduate doctors from various colleges are mentored and trained in various skills in the 3 month DRP period .
Anaesthesia Technician Course
Department of Anaesthesiology runs a 1 year Anaesthesia technician course. At present there are 5 sanctioned seats.
The Department of Anaesthesiology ensures and monitors uninterrupted oxygen supply to all the operation theatres , wards and intensive care units round the clock.
We have Three liquid oxygen tanks of each 6kl capacity .
Two PSA plants with with oxygen generation capacity of 1000lpm and 350lpm are functional for additional oxygen supply.
